Creating or joining an organization

An organization is the workspace your brands and teammates live in. There are two ways to get one, and they behave very differently.

What an organization is

Everything in Sparkia belongs to an organization: your brands, your credits, your team, your run history. Your account belongs to exactly one.

So the first thing a new account does is get one. Either you create it, or you join one that already exists.

Which one you want. If a colleague already uses Sparkia, join theirs. Creating a second organization for the same company splits your credits and hides your teammates' work from you, and there is no way to merge two afterwards.
If someone invited you by email and you signed up with that address, this step is already done. You went straight to the workspace.

Joining with a code

An owner or manager generates a code from their team page and sends it to you. It looks like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.

  1. 1Choose Join an organization.
  2. 2Paste the code. The field uppercases it for you, so you do not have to match the case, but everything else has to match exactly.
  3. 3Choose Join with code, or just press Enter.
Joining is immediate. No approval, no waiting. You land in the workspace with whatever role the person who made the code chose for you.
Could not join almost always means a mistyped code. Check for a missing character or a confused letter and number, and ask for a fresh code if it still refuses.

Creating an organization

Six short steps, all of them things you can change later. Only the name has a real constraint: at least two characters.

StepWhat it asks
NameWhat your team and clients call you. A description is optional, and it is what a reviewer reads.
TypeSolo, team, or agency. It shapes the workspace's defaults.
IndustryThe closest of eight sectors. Pick the nearest one, there is an Other.
Team sizeA range, not an exact number.
ContactWebsite, email, phone. All optional.
ReviewEvery answer in one list, each with an Edit link back to the step that owns it.
You cannot lose your progress. Every keystroke is saved as you go. Close the tab, sign out, come back next week: the wizard reopens exactly where you left it with every answer still filled in.
Editing from the review does not restart the wizard. Use Edit on a row, change that one answer, and the footer button becomes Back to review so you return straight there instead of clicking through every step again.
The final button is deliberately unresponsive for about half a second after the review appears, so a double-click carried over from the previous step cannot submit by accident.

The approval wait

A new organization is checked by a person before it is switched on. You submit it, and then you wait.

While you wait, everyone in the organization sees a single holding screen instead of the app: a timeline showing what was submitted, what is happening, and what unlocks next. There is nothing to do on it. Sparkia emails you when it is approved.

The screen quotes under 24 hours on business days. That is a target rather than a promise. Nothing is wrong if it takes longer.
If changes are requested, the owner sees the reviewer's written reason and a form with the same fields, already filled in. Correct what was flagged and choose Resubmit for review. Only the owner sees this: everyone else keeps seeing the waiting screen.
This wait applies only to creating an organization. Joining an existing, already-approved one with a code has no wait at all.

Worth knowing

Whoever creates the organization is its owner. That is the only role that can change another owner or delete the organization, so it should be someone who will still be around.
Everything in the wizard is editable later from settings. None of it is a permanent choice, so do not agonise over the industry tile.
