Brand discovery
Discovery reads a brand's website and social profiles and proposes a profile for it. Nothing it finds reaches the brand until you pick the pieces you want and apply them.
What discovery does
You give discovery a website address and, if you have them, social handles. It reads the site, looks at the profiles, and comes back with a proposed profile for the brand: what the business does, who it is for, its colours and logo, its tone of voice, its products and services, and any sub-brands it spotted along the way.
It proposes. It does not decide. Every piece arrives as something you can keep, correct or leave out, and the brand itself changes only when you apply the run.
| Discovery finds | Where it looks |
|---|---|
| What the brand does, its category, who it is for | The website's own words, mainly its home and about pages. |
| Logo, primary, secondary and accent colours | Images on the site plus the colours in its stylesheet. |
| Tone of voice, unique selling points, content pillars, competitors | The site's copy, and the recent posts of any profile you mark for learning. |
| Products and services, with prices and photos | Shop, menu and service pages. |
| Sub-brands | Distinct businesses or product lines the site presents separately. |
Starting a run
Discovery starts from the brand overview: the wand button in the floating pill, or Run on the first step of the getting started checklist. Both open the same popup, Review brand details, so you can correct what discovery is about to work from before it spends anything.
| Field | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Brand Name | Already filled in. Correct it here if the brand was created with a placeholder. |
| Website URL | The one input discovery cannot work without. A tick or a cross appears beside it as the address is checked for reachability. |
| Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok | Handles or profile links. Optional, but they are what lets discovery learn the brand's voice from real posts. |
| Discovery Hints (Optional) | Three free-text boxes: Website Context, Social Media Context, General Notes. Use them to point discovery at the right part of a large site, or to say what to ignore. |
| Brand documents | Guidelines, decks or product docs. Uploaded files are read as primary context, ahead of the website. |
While it runs
Starting a run takes you to its own page, which fills in as findings arrive. You do not need to stay: the run continues if you navigate away, and a floating card in the corner of every page inside the brand keeps you posted and takes you back.
| On the page | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Status card | A spinner, Discovering and the brand's name, elapsed time, the current stage, a findings count, a Live indicator and a progress bar. |
| Step pills | One per brand being discovered, when the run covers a parent plus detected sub-brands. A pill shows a dot, a tick or a spinner for its own progress. |
| Findings | One card per topic as it lands: a paragraph typing itself out, a bullet list, colour swatches or a grid of item tiles. |
| Activity | A running narration of what the run is doing, line by line. |

Picking what to keep
A finished run is a proposal laid out in steps: the main brand first, then one step per detected sub-brand, then a Review summary. Inside a step, everything is a card you select or deselect. Selected cards get a green border and a tick in the corner.
On a brand's first run almost everything arrives pre-selected, because the brand has nothing stored yet to compare against. Work through the steps and clear whatever should not be imported.
| Card | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Positioning | What this brand does, its category, and who it is for. |
| Brand Identity | Logo and the primary, secondary and accent colours, with the colours found in the site's stylesheet shown as suggestions. |
| Social Profiles | One card per profile found. Selecting a profile marks it Learn: after applying, its last 15 posts are read to learn the brand's voice. |
| Voice & Audience | Tone of voice and target audience, plus removable tags for unique selling points, content pillars and competitors. |
| Products and Services | A tile per item, with its name, price and photos. Long catalogues show 12 at a time behind a Show more button. |
Sub-brands
When discovery finds distinct businesses or product lines on the site, each gets its own step. The toggle at the top of that step, Include this sub-brand, decides whether it is created at all.
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Leave it included | The sub-brand is created or updated, along with whatever you selected inside its step. |
| Turn it off | The sub-brand is skipped on this apply. Its findings are not thrown away: turn it back on later and your selections are still there. |
Applying
The last step is Review: a tally of everything about to be written, brand by brand, with a note beside any excluded sub-brand and a line saying how many profiles will be analysed for voice. Review & Apply opens a final summary, and Apply commits it.
- 1Step through the main brand and each sub-brand, selecting what to keep.
- 2On the Review step, check the tally.
- 3Click Review & Apply and read the summary popup's counts.
- 4Confirm. A progress popup shows each stage and returns you to the brand on its own.
Reopening a run
Opening a run that has already been applied puts the same screen into edit mode. Every field, tag, product and photo is editable, and each change saves as you confirm it. There is no separate save step; the button simply takes you back to the brand.
